Overview
Autodesk is moving forward with changes to its licensing model for educational institutions. This guide explains:
- How Autodesk’s new academic licensing cycle works
- How to accept your Autodesk Account invitation
- How to sign in to Autodesk software
- What to do if you experience issues
As part of Autodesk’s transition, all student Autodesk licenses will be removed before the start of each Fall semester. Beginning on the first day of the semester, and continuing throughout the academic year (as often as feasible), IT will issue Autodesk Account invitations to students who need access.
Once assigned, each student license remains active until the end of August of the following year.
Example Timeline:
• September 1, 2026 – Autodesk Account invitations sent
• Fall, Spring, Summer semesters – Invitations continue to be sent to students who have not yet activated their MyWCC Autodesk account
• August 30, 2027 – All student licenses removed
• September 1, 2027 – New round of invitations sent

Invitation
Accepting Your Autodesk Invitation
You will receive an email from no-reply@autodeskcommunications.com with the subject “Welcome to Autodesk.” Click the “Create your account” link.

The invitation is linked to your SUNY Westchester email address so it cannot be changed, but you may modify your First and Last name. Enter a password and check the ‘I agree’ box. Then click ‘Create account’.

You will then be redirected to https://manage.autodesk.com/home where you can see available software and install it on your personal device.

Opening Autodesk Software
When opening Autodesk software, you will be required to log in to your Autodesk account. Select ‘Sign in with your Autodesk ID’.

Enter your WCC email address, then click ‘Next’.

Enter your Autodesk password, then click ‘Sign in’. If the device you are using is only used by you, you can check the box for ‘Stay signed in for 30 days’. Otherwise, leave it unchecked.

A code will be sent to your email, enter it then click ‘Next’.

If you are the only person that uses this device, click ‘Trust this device’ otherwise, click ‘Don’t trust this device’.

You may or may not see a popup message like the one below, you can check the box then click ‘Open’

Whichever software you are opening should now be open and licensed using your account.
Logging Out (Instructors!)
If you are using a shared computer, such as a Presenter PC, please make sure you log out of your Autodesk account when your class is over.

Troubleshooting
If you have received an Autodesk invitation for Fall 2026, you will not receive another for Fall 2027. However, if you are enrolled in a course that requires Autodesk, you will receive a license. If your license does not appear or you do not receive an invitation a few days after classes begin, notify your instructor.
